The Job
This hands-on, outdoorsy role is perfect for an ex-tradey or someone handy with the tools.
You’ll be outdoors everyday, so you’ve got to love fresh air, the British weather and moving your body.
Our Swanage-based campsite requires a guardian to help keep the buildings and infrastructure in tip top condition. This means keeping our showers, toilets, marquees, tents, kit and storage buildings in excellent nick. You’ll also manage working with external tradespeople for the bigger jobs.
Erection Perfection
You’ll play a key-role in managing each school’s camping accommodation; making sure each group has enough tents week-to-week. A supreme staff of tent crew will be at your disposal to ensure tents are pitched to erection perfection.
It’s really important our tents are well maintained to prolong their shelf life. You’ll manage our large tent inventory and keep track of which need washing / reproofing / repairing and organising these to be sent off to the professionals at regular intervals.
Creativity Welcomed
We welcome a creative eye – if you have suggestions of ways to improve our campsite or make systems better, then we’re all ears. We’ll value your skills and welcome you putting them to good use during your time with us.
Your management skills will come into play at the start of the season, prepping the campsite ready for opening. You must be able to work to a deadline and ensure your team is delegated work to get the job done to a high standard. Likewise, at the end of the summer, our camp needs to be shut down diligently, ensuring all tents, beds and kit are added to an inventory and carefully dried and stored away.
Essentially, we’re after someone who takes pride in their work, values a job being done properly and wants to work in a stunning countryside location with views over Corfe Castle.
About Land & Wave
Land & Wave is an adventure company based in Swanage, Dorset. We’re all about providing people with incredible adventurous experiences within the natural landscape. We’ve been running for 12 years and work with almost 100 schools each year. We also run a professional Outdoor Training Academy, which trains people to become Outdoor Instructors over the course of 15 weeks, where in that time they come away with 16 national governing body qualifications.

There are a number of options.
– We can help you source affordable local homestay accommodation.
– You are also welcome to camp at our campsite at a discounted weekly rate
– There is a double room with kitchenette available to rent onsite, which could be suitable for a couple working at Land & Wave
– Some people choose to house-share – we can put you in touch with like-minded people to explore this option
